The product

From the punch to the timesheet.

Continuum collects punches, places each on the right timesheet and calculates it under your pay rules: rounding, meals and breaks, overtime, shift differentials, holidays and accruals.

Manage · for the office

One timesheet, every answer on it.

Manage is where administrators and supervisors work. A timesheet shows every work day of the pay period in order, with each punch as it was collected beside the time it was counted at, the hours in every pay classification and an estimated rate and amount.

  • Corrections that keep the original

Change a punch’s time, its pay code or its department, or set it aside. What was collected is never deleted.

  • Hours and earnings added by hand

Grant vacation or sick time, add a bonus or a reimbursement, and see who added each entry and when.

  • Rounding, case by case

Where your pay policy allows it, a supervisor can count any one punch at its own time instead of its rounded time.

  • Supervisors see their own people

Access controls decide whom each supervisor manages, by group value such as department or location, or person by person.

Collect · at the door

A time clock that keeps its word.

Collect turns a registered device into a Continuum time clock. Employees punch with their PIN, and the punch is timed on Continuum’s own clock, so a device with the wrong time cannot mis-time a punch.

  • Keeps working offline

A clock that loses its connection keeps the punches it takes and sends them, each with the time it was taken, when the connection returns.

  • Only real employees punch

A PIN must belong to exactly one active employee. Anything else is refused, and the attempt is recorded in the audit log.

  • Double taps handled

A second punch within your duplicate punch window is set aside, not counted twice.

My Time · on the employee's phone

Their hours, in their pocket.

My Time is what an employee uses on their own phone. It does three things, all for the person signed in and nobody else.

  • Punch

One button, timed on Continuum’s clock. With no connection the phone keeps the punch and sends it later.

  • Timesheet

Each day’s punches as they were counted and the hours paid, including holidays and time granted by hand. Rates and amounts stay in Manage.

  • Schedule

A week, a pay period or a month of shifts, days off and holidays.

  • Sign in once

After a password sign-in, the phone can use fingerprint, face or screen lock. An administrator can end any phone’s sign-in from Manage.

How pay is calculated

From punch to pay, in order, every time.

The calculation runs in the background after every punch, every correction and every change to a rule a timesheet depends on. It always starts again from the punches and the settings in force on each day.

01 · Punches

Filed by work day

Duplicates are set aside and each punch is filed under its work day, which can start at any time of day, not just midnight.

02 · Pairs and shifts

Paired and rounded

Punches pair in and out, are placed in the shifts the day offers, and are rounded to the shift or to an interval.

03 · Work days

Daily rules

Meals, paid breaks, shift differentials, holidays, guaranteed hours and daily overtime.

04 · Workweeks

Weekly rules

Weekly overtime, weekly guarantees and limits, and salary, settled over whole workweeks.

05 · Pay period

Period rules

Pay period guarantees, limits and overtime, then totals by pay code, by day and by workweek.

06 · Pay and accruals

Rates and balances

Each hour gets its rate and estimated pay, then vacation and other balances are settled day by day.

Pay policies

Rounding and overtime, the way your policy reads.

  • Rounding

Pull the first and last punch of a shift to its scheduled start and end, round other punches to an interval such as the quarter hour, or both, each with its own allowances.

  • Overtime levels

Name your own levels and multipliers, then move hours into them by day, by workweek and by pay period, in chains such as over 8 to time and a half, over 12 to double time.

  • Grace periods

Separate grace periods for early in, late in, early out and late out.

Premiums and earnings

Money on top of the hours, figured the same way.

  • Shift differentials

Pay for evenings, weekends or a night shift, qualified by time in a window, by shift, by work day, by shift start or by majority of the shift. When several qualify, the best choice is paid.

  • Split-shift and short-rest premiums

Pay for the gap in a split work day, or for a shift that began after less rest than your policy requires.

  • Three ways to pay a premium

An amount per hour, a percentage of the employee’s base rate, or a flat amount.

Holidays, hours and balances

Time nobody punched, counted properly.

Holidays

Defined on the rule

Fixed, fluctuating (the fourth Thursday in November) or one-time holidays, moved to Friday or Monday when observed, worth fixed hours or the hours scheduled.

Extended rules

Automatic, guaranteed, limited

Create hours for people who don’t punch, guarantee a daily, weekly or pay period minimum, flag hours past a maximum, or pay certain days and times under another pay code.

Accruals

Balances that carry forward

Earn by the period, by hours worked or as a yearly grant, step up with length of service, cap a balance and reset it each year.

Exceptions

When something is wrong, it says so.

The calculation never refuses to run and never invents a result. When it cannot do something properly it raises an exception on the punch, pair, worked shift, day or timesheet concerned, skips that one thing, and carries on.

  • Attendance

Early and late punches against the schedule, within grace or past it, missing punches, absences, long and missed breaks.

  • Setup

A pay policy, holiday rule, shift definition or pay code that is missing or inactive on the day it is needed.

  • Your own short codes

Name the attendance exceptions, give each a short code such as T for Tardy, and choose which ones the timesheet shows.

Scheduling

A default schedule, and any day by hand.

Every employee’s schedule comes from their shift definition, a repeating cycle of work days and days off. A supervisor can schedule any single day by hand instead: a defined shift, a flexible day or a day off.

  • It drives the results

The schedule decides who was absent, whether a punch was early or late, how many hours a day was expected to hold and how a holiday is sized.

  • Week, pay period or month

The Schedule tab shows days scheduled by hand in bold and the shift definition’s defaults in gray, with each day’s holidays.

Records you can stand behind

Every change dated, every version kept.

Effective dates

Past, present or future

Date a change to start next month, or correct one from weeks ago. The timesheet days it touches recalculate; earlier days don’t move.

Audit log

Events on record

Logins and failed logins, device connections, and punches that were dropped, with the reason.

Security

Passwords never sent

Signing in proves the password with a one-time challenge; it is stored only as a salted hash.
